Sessions

General Sessions

When Love Wins
What does it look like When Love Wins?  Alan Chambers will provide a helpful introduction to the conference by bringing clarity and revelation to the various ways that individuals live out their faith while dealing with the complexity of same-sex attractions.

Personal Testimonies
You will hear from men and women who have been impacted by homosexuality and how the intervention of Christ has and is currently bringing transformation into their lives.  In the midst of their testimonies you will become aware of some of the relational, spiritual and biological factors that may contribute to same-sex attractions.

You will also hear the challenges and lessons learned from parents who sought God’s help when faced with the unexpected revelation of their son’s homosexuality.  Finally, a couple will share how their marriage was saved from the brink of divorce due to sexual brokenness.

Questions and Answers
Drawing from years of personal and ministry experience, the panel of speakers will tackle real and relevant questions related to the numerous and varied aspects of homosexuality.

Where Do We Go From Here?

A fitting end for the Love Won Out Conferences, our speaker exhorts the Christian church to reach out compassionately to those within the gay community without compromising its stand on biblical truth.

Breakout Sessions

When Homosexuality Hits Home
This straightforward session will offer practical counsel, step by step, on knowing how to deal with the many conflicts and emotions parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters or any family member will experience when learning of a loved one’s homosexuality.

Reaching the Gay Community: What Would Jesus Do?

Jesus loved interacting with people often rejected by the religious establishment of the day.  His interaction with sinners was not designed to make them comfortable in their sin – it was designed to lead them to discipleship and life transformation.  This workshop will look at the true way Jesus interacted with sinners and discuss parallels with how the Body of Christ can reach out with grace and truth to the gay community.

De-Mystifying the Discipleship Process
Do you have a desire to help someone struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions?  It is not as challenging as you may think.  Jeff Buchanan, former pastor and Exodus EVP will explain the vital role of discipleship and a local church community in assisting anyone seeking freedom and transformation.

Running The Race

How can one remain faithful and obedient to God while dealing with homosexual feelings or other temptations/addictions? By combining biblical theology and personal experience, Christopher Yuan uses Hebrews 12:1-2 and shares what things have helped him to run with endurance and break free from homosexuality – and remain free.

The Gay Gospel?
This session takes a look at the growing acceptance of homosexuality in the evangelical community and offers a clear, biblical response to a revisionist theology that says homosexual behavior is not sinful.

Homosexuality in a Post-Christian Culture
A new generation is growing up in a cultural climate that is no longer anchored in Judeo-Christian values.  As a result, there are dramatically different views about homosexuality both outside and inside the church.  Controversial topics such as “Gay Christians” and homosexual covenants will be covered.

Hope for People with SSA
This breakout session is specifically for individuals who are dealing with unwanted same-sex attractions.  Exodus President, Alan Chambers will clarify what “change” means and will also offer practical advice based on his own experience and the experience of many others. A great session to ask questions and receive encouragement and support while on your journey.

Renewed, Restored, Rebuilt, Re-Purposed (Married Couples)
While the intrusion of homosexuality into a marriage brings up many unique emotions and issues, including the mysterious unknowns of homosexuality and very real issues of trust, forgiveness, disclosure and sex, there is great hope.  Many marriages not only survive, but thrive as both spouses submit to the journey of healing God desires for each of them individually and for their marriage.

Student Track (Ages 16 -22 only)
The Love Won Out student track is a safe, conversational environment for young people 23 years of age and under to process what they’re learning about God’s message to those who struggle with sexual identity. Students will join youth ministers from around the country to discuss topics relevant to their day-to-day experiences, and be encouraged by the message of others who understand where they’re at and what they’re going through.
